91 years young and going strong

The founder of the company I work for is "91" years young (on the left, of course). He is a Structural Engineer. This beautiful man amazes me! He is semi-retired but comes in every day and the first words out of his mouth are "Gung Ho"!! and he moves his arm in an upward motion as he is saying it. I have never met such a positive, caring, honest, giving individual. It is such a pleasure to type a letter for him, or make him a fresh pot of coffee. I feel so honored to be his assistant. He treats each worker with such respect and makes you feel so important. His son is my boss and has the same qualities, can you believe? I am blessed to have a job such as this. This man never complains about ailments. He has had many falls and ups and downs but you never hear him complain. What really amazes me is, at 91 years of age, he got his first computer at work this week and is learning how to navigate. I walked by his office yesterday and he is working the mouse, trying to find information to read and looked totally wowed by his new found machine. He was so proud! Everyone at the office is lending a hand to help him out as he learns. Oh, and would you believe he also got a newer car recently....yes, he still drives! God love him......
The pretty gal next to him in the picture is also a very caring individual and a pleasure to work with as well. She would give you the shirt off her back. This picture was taken at our Christmas party. Her and I planned the party together and had a really good time.

Test over

I wanted to report that the dreaded test is over and I slept most of the day when I came home. The doctor said my colon is normal, Praise God.....but she did take a biopsy, which we will find out results in 1 week. My hubby was so sweet, he stopped to get me lunch to take home cause I was starved from fasting, but I didn't have an appetite, so ate it later when I started waking up more. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. I am sooooo glad it's over.

Prep for a test

So, I worked half day today to get ready for a test I have to take tomorrow...It's the dreaded colonoscopy. Since I have mild colitis and another problem that I take meds for, I have to have this every 3 years. Well, the test itself is not all that bad, since they put you to sleep and you don't know what's going on. It's the stinkin' (no pun intended) prep that is horrible. I got up this morning and had jello for breakfast with coffee and cranberry juice. Today is all liquid diet. To prepare for the diet, I went to the store last night and bought a large bag of popsicles, jello already made, root beer (my favorite soda), yummy fat free beef and chicken broth and cranberry juice. As a treat, I can have hard candy. The dread is the GALLON of liquid you have to drink every 10 minutes until all gone, which cleans you out. A few hours after that you take 2 dreaded pills to make sure you eliminate your organs...which leaves a hollow body that is crawling to bed from exhaustion and has a burning sensation (you know where). I told my hubby the last time I had this test, it was my last because I got dehydrated and very sick, but I am determined to make sure I drink lots of liquid tonight to keep up with what I am losing. Check back tomorrow for the news on the test......It's time to go drink the YUK!

The Bachelor

I am so excited at the outcome of The Bachelor tonight. I predicted every one that would go home. I am so so glad to see Shannon leave. She got on my last nerve. My favorite is still Stephanie, although I'm beginning to wonder if she is not a little mature for him. She is such a classy lady. I don't know about Naomi. She just doesn't look like her and Jason fit. I'm beginning to really like Jillian. I think it was probably fixed that he couldn't give out the last rose. You know there's always a twist.

From snow to sand in 156 Days!

I can already feel the warm sand between my toes. I can already taste the dreamsicle I will sip by the pool. I can already see the dolphins jump up out of the ocean while the sun is rising, as I sit on the balcony outside of our room on the 10th floor sipping coffee beside my Sis. In just 156 days my dream will be a reality......Happy Friday! I hope your dreams come true as well!

New Sassy Do

I decided to go shorter and sassy....The color is a little darker too. I will go lighter blonde in the summer. My hairdresser loves me cause I like changes and she has fun with them. I really love the new look. I haven't had my sides cut out in a while but it is much easier to style and I hate standing in one place with a round brush drying my hair. Hope you like.....
Ok, don't stare at the double chin.....I hope to get rid of before summer.......

bye bye shannon!

If you watched last night, you may agree with me that Shannon has got to go! I think she is a stalker. I can't believe she threw up and you could actually hear the toilet flushing. I'm beginning to like Molly & Jillian a little more, but my favorite is still Stephanie. Nikki is full of herself. I thought Deanna was coming on the show to start some drama. Did I miss that?

The Bachelor

So, I admit it, I'm hooked on "The Bachelor" Sorry Jon & Kate Plus 8, but you are on the back burner right now. Last year I was rooting for Jason, but Deanna picked Jesse and now she is regretting letting Jason go. Her bad! I knew Jason was the better catch, but she went for the free spirit. So, I already have my pick, my favorite, which is Stephanie.....Not because it's my favorite girls name, but because she is just so genuine and I just adore her....I am anxious to see it tonight since she has a one on one date with Jason and her beautiful daughter will be there. So, do you watch? Who are your picks or pick? Happy Monday!

My Great Nephew, Evan Reed on his way home for the first time. Is this not Precious, or what?

Evan Reed is here!

Evan Reed arrived at around 6:30 pm. 1-15-09. He weighed in at 8 lbs. 10 oz. and is 20 1/4 inches long. Here is proud momal, my sister Diane in all her glory.
Dayna and Rob before Evan was born, very anxious to meet their son. Diane said that Dayna only had to push a few times and he was out, almost before the dr. arrived. Thank you for all your prayers. Dayna said she felt at peace all day while she was in labor. Diane said Evan looks like a mini Rob.

Fun times with family, food & bowling

And the celebrating continued Sunday for Steph's birthday. This was our family celebration at Red Robin for lunch. We had the best server who kept our drinks filled and the fries coming .....Steph is opening up a food processor....she had hinted she needed.
Gray is getting some momma grease. I think he liked it that baby Ivy was in his daddy's lap.
Baby Ivy is thinking, Let's get this party started, Already!
Noah and Abby are dancing to the funky music at the bowling alley. Abby is still attached to her wubbanub.
Mimi is trying her hand at bowling. It's been years and I only broke 2 fingernails. I have a better score at Wii bowling. At least I can say, I was the Biggest Loser out of 6 adults. I played against Nate, Steph's in-laws, Steph and my son-in-law. My grand-kids played in the lane beside ours. They had the bumper guards.... It was such an enjoyable day with ALL my grand-kids and family. My hubby was home with an awful sinus infection.....we missed him.
Carter really enjoyed bowling. He was so funny, he would roll the ball then turn his back and walk away, not looking at how many pins he knocked down. Gray was always trying to sneak in a few rolls here and there when it wasn't his turn.
Abby would roll the ball with the help of her daddy, then squat down to watch the pins fall. It was the sweetest thing.....
Gray really got into this bowling thing. He wanted every turn to be his.
I had to throw in this picture of my precious Noah. I think this was taken right before we prayed over our lunch. I just have to say, To All of this, I give thanks! My family means the world to me! This was a perfect family Birthday Celebration! And, I didn't even get a picture of the birthday girl bowling.....

Steph's surprise party

Thanks to some special blogger buddies, we managed to surprise Steph with a Birthday lunch at Don Pablo's restaurant yesterday. Ivy was in on the conversation. Crooked Eyebrow took these fabulous pictures. Check out other photos on her blog. Beth got the news out to all who wanted to join us for the surprise. I was able to meet sweet Erin, school teacher by day, and her sweet little baby bump. Sarah was there with Ivy's heart-throb, baby Asher. They were flashing baby blues at one another. Lisa also stopped by, even though she was busy with her own daughter's golden birthday. I think the snow storm we had come through kept some people away, but we had a great time. We had our own private room, which was so nice. Steph was escorted to the main dining room before she ate her fried ice cream and everyone said Happy Birthday to her, while she wore the famous red sombrero. It was a great afternoon!
Today is another day of celebration with family. After lunch, we are all going bowling! Pictures to follow!

Happy Birthday Steph!

HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY BEAUTIFUL DAUGHTER, STEPH.
32 Years ago today a Star was born.....When Steph made her entrance on that cold, snowy Saturday, I could tell in her dainty little cry that she was somebody special. My wish for you today, Steph, is a peaceful, carefree day of relaxation and pampering yourself (maybe Gray can keep an eye on Ivy) NOT! We will celebrate on Sunday as a family. Go over and wish her a happy birthday today, give her some Love!

Clean Slate

Our message at church on Sunday was "Clean Slate". Yesterday, I started my day with a clean slate. I erased the past failures and started fresh. I got back on those dreaded scales and faced it! I felt so much better knowing that it was a new day, new year, new me. I want to eat healthy and be healthy so I can be around for my family. I want to move more and get back on that treadmill.
I can report that I did eat healthier on my first day back and I snuck and weighed and was down 1.8 lbs. I allowed myself 1 small candy cane as my treat for the day. The other things I ate were healthy and I ate dinner off of a small plate and only 1 helping.
I want to start with a clean slate in every aspect of my life. I am really excited to see where 2009 takes us.

Memories of New Year's Day

I love this picture of my mom and Ivy. It is just so angelic. My mom comes alive when she can hold a baby or watch her great-grandchildren play. We met over her house on New Year's Day to eat her famous Pinto Beans cooked with the Christmas ham bone. I made fried cube steaks, rice and cornbread. Noah had his favorite, corn dog. Gray spotted the cookies, but did eat a little of the good stuff first. Carter didn't even ask for his favorite mashed potatoes.
Great poppal, Noah, Great Mommal, Carter, Gray & Ivy.............
Sweetness!!! Happy 2009....

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to all my dear friends. 2008 was a wonderful year, but I feel that 2009 will be even better. I was given an unexpected promotion at work, which I feel blessed for, so it is starting off on a positive note. Last night I played Wii and beat my son at boxing and bowling......I am one sore mimi this morning....Enjoy your New Day, New Year! Love and Peace to all! Mimi
