Onion Rings & Potato Soup

We decided to celebrate Thanksgiving with our kids and grand-kids this Sunday. It is hard going between 2 families on holidays, so we chose another day to celebrate. I made a big breakfast this morning for our son, daughter-in-law and grand-daughter, who stayed a few hours. My husband and I were invited to our daughter's in-laws for dinner but Mike wanted to relax in his lazy boy and read the paper and just have a relaxed day off so we decided to attempt to have dinner at Bob Evans but it ended up being closed. We then went to the Bass Pro shop to see if their restaurant was open, it was closed. So, we ended up eating at Quaker Steak & Lube, next to the Bass Pro Shop. We were greeted by very friendly staff who acted very lonely and so happy we decided to stop in and spend our holiday with them. They did have Turkey dinners but for some reason, it didn't sound good anymore. I had a taste for something entirely different, out of the ordinary....would you believe I ordered onion rings & Potato soup? It was delicious! They served the onion rings on a car antenna with a sauce on the side called Louisiana Lickers ...a spicy sauce they serve with wings. My husband ordered a bottle to go. We were entertained by big screen t.v.'s all over the place which had on the football game and Kelly Clarkson singing at half time. The decor in the restaurant was corvette cars up on jacks high in the air and one car was even hanging on the wall. My husband was amazed at how they were able to hang a car on the wall. Who would have thought we would be sitting in a booth on Thanksgiving Day, eating out of the ordinary food and enjoying a most unusual holiday together in this style?.....When we got home I enjoyed pumpkin pie and cool whip, while chatting with my sister on the web cam. I have one thing to say about this day.............To this, I give Thanks!

"Happy Thanksgiving"

I am so Thankful for so many things, too many to mention. My prayer is that everyone in the world has food to eat and a warm shelter. I will give thanks to the Lord with all my heart; I will tell of all Your wonders. Psalm 9:1.

I hope this Thanksgiving Day, you are surrounded by loved ones and enjoy the great dishes and beauty that surrounds you!

"My New Cookware"

I treated myself to an early Christmas present and simply love them. It's the 10 pc. Rachael Ray Aluminum Cookware. I had all pots going today on the stove and clean up was a breeze. They match my Fat Chef kitchen so well. I originally got the all orange enamel ones but was not happy with them. They seemed very light weight and was not what I expected. I returned them for this set and am glad I did. The best part was they were on sale 20% off, then I had a coupon for an additional 30% off.....I sure do love bargains.....Happy Cooking!

"Mimi got stung by a Bumblebee"

Abby is doing her Elvis impression with her lip in this Halloween photo from last night. She was the cutest little Bumblebee I've ever seen. It was a great night having ALL "4" of the grand-kids stop by. I ended up following Steph, Jeff and the boys to a local church for "Trunk or Treat". My husband was stuck with passing out the candy...poor guy.

Carter and Noah dressed as Pirates.....They have always loved to play dress up, so a few Christmas's ago I filled for each one, a trunk of dress up items. I was blessed to find a clearance at the Disney Store. I'm glad they still like to put them all to good use......Love these guys!

Gray was a Frog, in case you didn't notice....He wasn't too happy about keeping his outfit on last night but Mimi did talk him into it when it got colder.....

"Rhonda & Amy Going Red"

NO WE DID NOT DO THIS FOR HALLOWEEN!

Amy, my co-worker and partner in crime and I decided to go RED....
Last week Amy told me I would look good if I went to a darker color in the red family, from my blonde color and she had wanted to go Red. So, we both thought, why not? We did it last night and came in to work this morning to compare our colors.....She loved mine and I loved her's. Her's is more of a strawberry Blonde, while mine is more of a Strawberry Shortcake Red. I am really not sure if I like mine....You be the judge...what do you Really think? Some comments today were, "Did you do this for Halloween?" For those who know me well, know that I am a daring person...you only live once....Who know's what color I will be next....

Weekend in Michigan

This past weekend was spent in Frankenmuth Michigan, visiting Bronner's Christmas Wonderland. My husband, son, daughter-in-law & grand-daughter made the almost 4 hour trip. This is an unbelievable store with every ornament and decoration you can think of ever. They personalize ornaments for free. I had self control and only got myself 1 ornament. I collect snowbabies, so I found a retired snowbaby ornament that I didn't have. When I walked in I was in Awe of this attraction and started taking pictures of the ceiling, walls, etc. My husband asked me if I was going to shop. At times it felt overwhelming with everything, didn't know where to look first....so much... Afterwards we went to an outlet mall and I did pick up a few Christmas gifts for the family. We spent the night in Saginaw Michigan about 10 minutes away....next to a Hobby Lobby and ended up going to look around in there....Needless to say, I am all shopped out!
I have no idea why I took this picture, but it is our cart on our way to fill it up....my Coach purse enjoyed the ride! My camera was doing strange things in that store...a lot of my pictures were blurry and couldn't be saved....oh well, next trip, I hope to have a new camera....
Abby loved playing on the bed in the hotel room....Isn't she just a cutie and she has already had her first haircut.

Pretty Penny & Handsome Hank

Hank & Penny are our kids. Penny is proud of her new look. She got beautified today at the groomer. Hank is a short haired mini-doxie and Penny is a long-haired mini-doxie. They love to lay in the bed while I am on the computer. Hank greaves when he can't see me.
Three years ago this month, we adopted Penny. You've probably seen her in recent posts. We were blessed to be able to adopt Penny from a breeder who was retiring her from having puppies. She came at just the right time in our lives. We spoil her and treat her like a queen.....afterall, she deserves it, after having many liters of pups. I am truly thankful for Miss Penny....

5 interesting things about Mimi

I've been tagged by crooked eyebrow for a meme.....Where do I begin?
  1. I started singing at a young age and was in a traveling Christian youth group. I won teen talent in our region at age 17, by singing a solo. I have been singing at weddings and funerals since age 16. The older I get, the less I do. I also play the piano by ear. I use to play piano for a local church and nursing home ministry.
  2. I have been to the Oprah Winfrey show 4 times....I stood and talked 2 times.
  3. I use to work down town Chicago, comuting by train. I come alive in the city....One of my favorite places.
  4. I have a few dream jobs that I would love to pursue. One is rocking Babies in a hospital nursery. One is working for Make a Wish Foundation. The other one is a model...yes, at my age and size...would love it! One of my favorite jobs I have held would have to be an assistant 2nd Grade teacher...It was so rewarding. I have a Medical Records Clerk certificate. I loved taking medical terminology. I would also love to volunteer at Children's Hospital in Chicago.
  5. Some day, I would like to drive a convertible.......I now drive a mini van, which is very handy with 4 grand-children. Well, that's all folks...

I am going to tag Ashlee and Robin for a meme....What are 5 interesting things we don't know about you girls? Spill it!

"Throwback Thursday"

This is a throwback to 3 years ago....Can you pick out my beautiful daughter, Stephanie?
Her mother-in-law, Barb, holding her grand-daughter, and I gave Steph a baby shower when she was expecting Grayson...(look how cute her tummy was). Some of her closest friends and realatives blessed her with some wonderful gifts. This was such an intimate and special day. Can you guess the other Bloggers in the photo? I will give you a hint...Sheryl is sitting next to Steph, in the green. Lori is standing behind Sheryl.
Thanks pinks and blues for another fun T.T.

Another Fun Weekend

My weekend started with a nice quiet dinner with hubby on Friday night after work. Saturday I Abbysat with my adorable grand-daughter. I had her ALL day. I planned it so I could get most of my housework and laundry started before she arrived, which meant up at 5 am. I forgot how much work a 7 month old can be, but I loved every second of it. As you can see, she is sucking on a teething bisquit and loving it. We played, she ate, she played, she napped (on me). My husband said I needed a sling. At the end of the day, Abby started doing this funny thing with her mouth, like she was saying "Oh". We realized that she was imitating me because I have a habit of looking excited when I play with her and do my mouth like that. Her mommy called it her "mimi look"...made me feel special.
