Onion Rings & Potato Soup

We decided to celebrate Thanksgiving with our kids and grand-kids this Sunday. It is hard going between 2 families on holidays, so we chose another day to celebrate. I made a big breakfast this morning for our son, daughter-in-law and grand-daughter, who stayed a few hours. My husband and I were invited to our daughter's in-laws for dinner but Mike wanted to relax in his lazy boy and read the paper and just have a relaxed day off so we decided to attempt to have dinner at Bob Evans but it ended up being closed. We then went to the Bass Pro shop to see if their restaurant was open, it was closed. So, we ended up eating at Quaker Steak & Lube, next to the Bass Pro Shop. We were greeted by very friendly staff who acted very lonely and so happy we decided to stop in and spend our holiday with them. They did have Turkey dinners but for some reason, it didn't sound good anymore. I had a taste for something entirely different, out of the ordinary....would you believe I ordered onion rings & Potato soup? It was delicious! They served the onion rings on a car antenna with a sauce on the side called Louisiana Lickers ...a spicy sauce they serve with wings. My husband ordered a bottle to go. We were entertained by big screen t.v.'s all over the place which had on the football game and Kelly Clarkson singing at half time. The decor in the restaurant was corvette cars up on jacks high in the air and one car was even hanging on the wall. My husband was amazed at how they were able to hang a car on the wall. Who would have thought we would be sitting in a booth on Thanksgiving Day, eating out of the ordinary food and enjoying a most unusual holiday together in this style?.....When we got home I enjoyed pumpkin pie and cool whip, while chatting with my sister on the web cam. I have one thing to say about this day.............To this, I give Thanks!

We just got home from visiting the kids and I saw your comments, thanks for leaving some.
I had been to Quaker Steak, I was too nervous to sit by that car on the wall in case it fell off on me, ha. Stevie loved the Batman dragster on the ceiling in the lobby.
Thanksgiving can be any day that works for you!

That place must be Mike's favorite restaurant. What a fun and different way of spending Thanksgiving! We had our Thanksgiving on Sunday because that's when Terry and Jen could come. So on Thanksgiving we went out to breakfast at Perkins (gingerbread pancakes) and then to the YMCA for water aerobics. The rest of the day was for taking it easy with leftover turkey for lunch - really relaxing.

Sounds like a wonderful, relaxing day! I enjoyed Thanksgiving at my mom's house and we split dinner, I made the easy half and she did everything else!!

Glad you had a wonderful day! And I love the Steak Lube whatever it's called place! We went there in October and I kept thinking, "We are sitting underneath a car" the whole time. The atmosphere is so cool there.
