Mimi's got a toothache! Ouch!

I have had an awful toothache for a few days now and the only thing that takes the pain away is when I hold water in my mouth and swish, or when I hold Listerine in my mouth for a while. But when you have a job that requires talking and communicating, you can't sit with liquid in your mouth all day. I actually would swish in between sleeping the last few nights. I think I got 3 straight hours of sleep without having to swish......I went to the dentist after work yesterday and since it is a tooth under my bridgework, he can only assume that it might be a bacteria infection and put me on an antibiotic for 10 days. He said if the pain does not go away after finishing the meds, then it must be a root problem and you know what that means.....ROOT CANAL....I think the only pain worse than a toothache is childbirth.....sorry to scare the first time soon to be moms out there. If anyone has a home remedy for pain, please share with me....I am desperate! Eating sweets makes it worse, so maybe I will lose a few pounds....
Please say a prayer for Mimi....

Maximum strength Ambesol has helped me. Did you try that? I hope it is better soon!

Miserable! And as someone who had a root canal done at 8 months pregnant, I'm going with root canals being WAY WORSE than childbirth. At least the pain of childbirth had a purpose...the pain of the root canal just caused me misery.;)

Root Canal, Augh!!!!
Have you tried Ambesol or Orajel? It might help ease it. Also an over-the-counter anti inflammatory like ibuprofen should help.
You didn't scare me about the pain. I suffer from migraines. I know pain!

I am praying for you!

I LOVE the new look of your blog! My husband said to me today when he saw that I posted pictures of my pedicure, "I bet Mimi's Toes will like that picture"! I was so impressed he "knew" you!

Other than Ambesol and Orajel, Advil or Motrin to relieve the inflammation helps too!

P.S. Root canals stink! I had 1 a year ago and am in need of another one. The dentist keeps asking me when I'm coming in for it.

Yeah, I'm going to jump right on it!

Good luck Mimi!

When I used to work at a dental office, we always were instructed to tell patients, ibruprofen and make a gargle of warm salt water (a natural cleansing agent and analgesic rinse) to releive the pain.
I had a very painless root canal last year. Very.Painless.

Also, for pain worse than migraines, tooth aches, child birth, try some trigeminal neuralgia. Hooray! I also like the super duper Ambesol, 24-7 like Steph suggested. Take ibruprofen or naproxin around the clock, so the inflammation doesn't creep up while the antibiotic is trying to kill off your bad germ army.
Good luck!

Hold a whole glove near the site of pain for about 15 to 20 min it's a natural local analgesic!!!!

Ps thanks for leaving a comment on my blog!!
