Where to start........well, our parents live about 1 mile from me and they decided to sell their house. My dad didn't want the responsibility of taking care of a house and yard anymore, so he thought that if he put it on the market it might take 6 months to a year to sell.......well, the 3rd person who looked at it bought it and now we are racing against the clock to prepare a moving sale and finding them a place to live. We have already checked out Assisted Living Facilities in the area since that is what an option would be and they did put down a deposit to hold one, but it may not be ready when they need it. We have 22 days to get rid of stuff and move our parents. Our parents are not what you would call elderly even though they are in their 70's. They do get around and still drive, but they feel as though they do need some assistance. This is bitter sweet for me because they are selling the house I grew up in. They won't have the space they are use to having. Our mom likes her stuff, meaning her pretty trinkets and believe you me she has lots of them! It will be very hard for her to give up things she loves so much.
So, this trip for my sister will be a very busy time for us as sister's to help make decisions for our parents for their future. I really dreaded this time in my life cause I don't deal too well with change. It is very hard to watch your parents age and not to be able to do the things they use to do and depend on their children for help. Our brother lives in Idaho and won't be able to come to help, due to not being able to leave his business at this time. I just pray for God to give us strength and that this transition will be a smooth one.
We plan to have some sister time alone though, after we tuck the folks in bed.......

It's such a strange thing in life when the children take over the care giving for the parents; but it is a part of life and it's great your sis is coming to help you.
All will be well. I hope your visit is fun. Praise God that the house sold that quickly! Homes on our street have been on the market for months. It's in God's timing, so He's made a way already. It'll all work out.
I'm so glad to see your sister was coming ! Be strong and I hope all goes well with the move for your parents.
I know it will be hard, but at least your sister will be here to help. You are a wonderful daughter! Good luck and have fun with that sister of yours.
I'm hoping you get everything squared away while she's here AND you get some good sister time, too.

That's so nice to have your sister with you for a while, and having her help with your parents. It's also good that your parents realize they need the help and an easier place to live in. I hear of so many refusing to let go. But you are also losing the place you grew up in - bittersweet indeed. You and your sister can lean on each other emotionally to get through this transition. Encourage each other with God's grace.
Enjoy your sister time as you both reminisce sorting through things and most importantly it'll be a good family time (minus the bro) to laugh and maybe even cry a bit over the memories the house shared with you all.
How bittersweet, but a new chapter! Embrace it........
I am glad that your Sis is coming to help. I know it is a change when parents start needing a little more help. Sometimes I don't realize the age of my parents till I see pictures of them.
I pray all will go smoothly with the move.
And that ya'll have some FUN too!
But, is there a better time to do this, than right now when you have your sister with you?
I AM SO EXCITED FOR YOU THAT YOUR SISTER IS COMING!!!!!! YEAH FOR YOU!!!
6 weeks from Saturday, and mine will be here!
I am sure this will be an emotional time, but have fun with your sister!
Praying that all goes well with the move and that you and your sis find time to connect, even in the busyness!
TOMORROW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey Rhonda,
I am sure that you are with your sister by now. I am so happy for you, as I know how good it feels to be with your sister! :)
I have 6 weeks until I get to see mine, and then I will be with her for a month.
I pray that y'all have an amazing, blessed 10 days together!
So glad your sis made it safely. Enjoy your precious time together, and I look forward to reading all about it! :)
Hey! email me at forevermonkey420@yahoo and let me know if you haven't had that sale yet! I am in desperate need for some stuff....and your parents just might have it! We did this with my step-grandma about 10 years ago. She loves it! She even works at the home she's right by and she's 84! She just didn't want to mow lawns anymore and to hang out with people her age. Good for your parents to move on with a fresh start.
