Mirror Mirror on the wall

I got a little emotional last night while "Abbysitting". Abby loves to get into my jewelry box and play dress up, so when I was at the half price sale at Goodwill on Saturday, I found the perfect little jewelry box/purse perfect for her size. I put some of my not so precious jewelry in the purse that opens to a jewelry box, which amazed her! She stood for over an hour putting bracelets on then taking them off, neatly tucking them in the jewelry box, picking up the antique mirror I found last summer at a swap meet for only a few $'s. The reason why I got so emotional, while watching this innocent, precious little angel primping and dressing up like a princess, I fast forwarded to 13 years, 16 years, 18 years, 20 years.....Someday she will be getting ready for her first formal dance, date, prom and Lord help me, her wedding. I had to snap back to the moment before I got consumed in what the future awaits. I want to be there to take pictures....
Maybe the Celine Dion dvd I had playing in the background didn't help any with all the sad songs.......
P.S. the silver earring & necklace set belonged to Abby's great-great grandma. It is precious jewelry, but she was very easy with it, so that was special seeing it on her.

such wonderful pictures, Sis! She is a "Miss Priss"! I know what you mean about being emotional! We have so many 'firsts' with all our grandchildren . . . it's overwhelming sometimes to think of what that will be like for them! It was so wonderful to just look @ her on the webcam last night sitting there so innocent in your lap (saying 'no' to her little brother)! LOL These are definitely the 'best years of our lives'!
Love,
Diane

Your Abby is so cute. My granddaughter is also into jewelry and purses now. I need to get her some of my old stuff with a purse to have here. What a good idea. Diane is right. These really some of the best years of our lives.

You made me cry... I think as we get older, we know the passage of time so intimately. We have such vision for the future because we've been there, it seems, already... especially having daughter(s) of our own. Enjoy these precious moments in time with your precious Abby... she is a beauty!!

So sweet, Rhonda! She's a doll. I'm proud of you for going roller-skating at all.

wow love it! You are such an awesome Mimi, you made it possible for her to enjoy her time in your stuff! That is amazing! That mirror is gorgeous, what made it precious was little Abby being able to use it and hold it! Love this stuff! Emotional is good, means sometimes we are just so overtaken we are smitten!!!

Awwwww, this post touched my heart. These pictures are precious. It is sooo neat that the jewelry belonged to Abby's great grandmother.

Hey Rhonda,
We have to move sometime. Marissa graduates from Laurel this year and will need to go to a public high school. The town we live in is NOT an option, so that means we have to move. Phil wants me to keep my job, and obviously he has to keep his, so distance is a factor. So many decisions to make! Also, this summer I'm supposed to be having a partial hysterectomy. So basically my summer vacation will consist of moving, then surgery, then recovery. Swell, huh?
